Preservation Project

Please see the attached update on the project.  Also Dr. Weik is planning a workshop that would be a bigger event where community members are invited to his lab in USC to participate in cemetery preservation training and collecting oral history/ethnographic interviews. The workshop will take place at the USC archeology lab. He has proposed the following dates:  February 21st, March 7th and April 11th. For those who are planning to come to Columbia for the Cemetery workshop and Community gathering at Cedar Creek April 10-11…If you want to do something fun after the workshop is over at noon on Friday, April 10, Historic Columbia is having their Spring Plant Sale not far from the location of the workshop. They also have some very interesting homes, gardens and walking tours. They are all located within a short distance of each other. One of those tours is the African American History Tour.

Please mark your calendars for March 28.
Cedar Creek will be hopping!

We have a litter and trash clean-up starting at 10 a.m. Our spring litter clean-up is part of a statewide Clean Sweep campaign. We will have bags, pickers, and vests. Meet us at the Community House at 10. You can pick up along Cedar Creek or Wildflower roads — or head back to your house and pick up there. Leave your filled bags along the road and we will pick them up later in the day. We count our bags and report the number to Palmetto Pride to be included in the state-wide total. If you find large pieces of trash (televisions, etc.), please call 803-318-1769 and let us know what treasures you have found.

Then, Cedar Creek Baptist Church invites everyone in the community to its Spring at the Creek event. It starts at 11 at the church.
