Welcome Family!

The Kinsler United website brings together the African American descendants of the enslaved, and the White descendants of the enslaver to rebuild their full biological family tree and document their shared legacy. We begin our journey as enslaved people from South Carolina and follow the migration to Florida, and other parts of the United States in hopes to find our European and African roots. We are compiling information, surveying gravesites, sharing stories, and combing the archives all in a quest to identify our origins. Our goal is to be one of "reparative genealogy"—acknowledging, documenting, and providing access to records so descendants can reconnect with their ancestors. By becoming a member of this site, you will be privy to this repository of information and have opportunity to connect with new family members. Each story that is shared about our ancestors helps us solidify our bond as members of The Kinsler Family.

Künzler Surname Primary Meanings

The Flatterer: In many cases, it is a nickname derived from the Middle High German word künzen, meaning "to flatter". Patronymic (Descendant of Konrad): It often serves as a patronymic form of Kunzel or Kunz, which are pet forms of the ancient Germanic name Konrad. The name Konrad itself is composed of the elements kuon ("bold" or "brave") and rat ("counsel" or "advice"). Occupational (Official or Chancellor): Some sources link the name to the Middle High German kanzelaere, referring to a "superior of an office" or an orderly-room. This originates from the Latin cancellarius, meaning "chancellor". Artisan/Craftsman: In certain German-speaking regions, particularly Switzerland, it may derive from künzler, meaning a craftsman or artisan.
